Different Exercises for People with Hip Problems – Dr Niraj Vora

Pain in the hip is caused by the loss of strength in the muscles in that area. The pain caused by any damage to the cartilage gets aggravated when the muscles are no longer able to prevent the bone surfaces from rubbing against each other. As you feel more pain, you move less. This results in Hip Problems

As you move less, the muscles become weak because of the lack of exercise. As the muscles become weak, they fail to support the hip. As the hip receives less support, the ball of the thigh bone rubs more against the hip bone. As the bones rub against each other, you feel more pain. Any total hip replacement surgeon Mumbai will tell you that this loop has to be broken to get relief from hip pain.

Exercises at home:

The above cycle is broken by introducing your hips to simple exercises that can bring back its flexibility.  You will have to consult hip replacement doctors and physiotherapists to understand what kind of exercises will be suitable for you.  One of the exercises you can do is to lie down on your back with your knees bent and your feet on the floor. Tighten the cheeks of your buttocks so that the gluteal muscles are squeezed. Hold the position for five seconds and then release. Repeat the exercise for at least thirty times.

Exercises at gym –

Before trying any exercise, be sure to consult any doctor such as Dr.NirajVora and your Physiotherapist. You can use the equipment at the gym for doing the exercise that helps you to squeeze your quadriceps muscles. You can also use the proper equipment that is used to perform an exercise for the hamstring. You can do the squatting exercises at the gym if your hip has not been replaced earlier or you do not suffer from severe arthritis.  This exercise strengthens both your quadriceps and your hamstring muscles at the same time.
